Excerpts from the Washington Post:

JOHN KITNER, GREAT MILLS, JR: "After transferring from Patuxent before the school year, Kitner continued to shine in the pool for the Hornets. He won SMAC titles in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.14 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.90, more than three seconds better than his closest challenger."

JACKSON WEBB, LEONARDTOWN, JR: "The versatile Webb pulled out a dramatic victory in the 200-yard individual medley at the SMAC championships, winning by just 0.21 seconds for a conference record time of 2:04.50. He backed up that title by winning the 500-yard freestyle in 5:15.55 and guiding the Raiders to a second-place finish."

ALLISON DAVIS, LEONARDTOWN, SR: "After being forced to watch the Raiders' 2005 Southern Maryland Athletic Conference championships from the sidelines because of the flu, Davis returned this season to dominate two events: the 500-yard freestyle (5:33.63) and the 100 free (a SMAC record 54.76). Davis also joined in the triumphant 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relay teams and won the 100 free at the 4A/3A championships."

CAITLIN BRANAMAN, LEONARDTOWN, SOPH: "A versatile swimmer, Branaman gave the Raiders a strong start at the SMAC championships with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and later provided a one-two Leonardtown finish by taking second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:07.44. She swam the lead leg on the victorious 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay teams."

DAVI CLARK, LEONARDTOWN, FR: "Part of a remarkable Raiders freshman class, Clark pushed Leonardtown toward the second SMAC title by winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:13.95. She also took part in the record-setting 200-yard medley relay team, which finished in 1:57.30, and the winning 200-yard freestyle team."

BRITTANY CULPEPPER, LEONARDTOWN, FR: "Culpepper burst onto the scene for an already imposing Raiders team. She won the 100-yard backstroke at the regional 4A/3A championship meet and followed that by setting a record in the same event at the SMAC championships in 1:02.91. She also won the SMAC 200-yard individual medley."

Excerpts from the Enterprise:

JOHN KITNER: "He was the top swimmer in the SMAC championships in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.14 seconds, outlasting former teammate Trey Fischer of Patuxent by .38 of a second. Kitner — who was also voted a first-team all-conference performer — also took first in the 200 freestyle at the SMAC meet, winning with a time of 1 minute 56.90 seconds. Great Mills had only four swimmers at the meet and took eighth with Kitner being a big help. At regionals, he placed second in the 200 free (1:55.16) and sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.40). During the season, the junior lost in dual meet competition only twice."

ALLISON DAVIS: "Davis goes out a champion and an undefeated swimmer. The Raiders did not lose a single dual meet in her two years and the team finished first in the SMAC championships both seasons, all coming in the first two campaigns of the program. In the pool, the senior showed why she’s one of the best swimmers around by finishing first at the SMAC and regional meets in the 100 free. Not only did Davis win both, but she did in record times. She completed the event in 55.37 at regionals Feb. 20 then had a 54.76 at the SMAC meet five days later. Davis also took first in the 500 free (5:33.63). If that wasn’t enough, she was part of Leonardtown’s 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams, both of which set SMAC and regional meet records."

Congratulations to Allison Davis for qualifying to swim in the 2006 MD Eastern Zone South Reg.Speedo Championships.
