Upcoming Meets

USA Swimming Speedo Championship Series
(Formerly known as Sectionals)

CBAC swimmers Eric Skrabacz and Beth Dobson have each qualified for individual events. This meet is just one level away from Senior Nationals and would normally be called the "Junior National Championship Meet." That meet is usually held in Florida, but Eric & Beth will have to settle for the beautiful and warm climate of Fairfax, VA. Please show your support to Eric and Beth.

Gambling in Atlantic City…?
The Bridge to Bridge Race is an open water race to be held in Atlantic City, NJ on August 3rd. Some of our country's best open water swimmers will attend. Three of CBAC's own plan to challenge the grueling waters during the 1.3 mile swims: John Kitner, Will Richards, and Eric Skrabacz. When you see these three brave souls tell them to swim fast or they'll end up as shark food!

AAU National Junior Olympic Games
This year's event is scheduled from August 5-9 in Knoxville, TN at the University of Tennessee. Eighteen CBAC swimmers will join other Marylanders in representing our state as an All-Star Team. CBAC has four national junior Olympic champions so far. Let's add more!

Senior Nationals - 2002
Former CBAC swimmer Jillian Martin (currently swimming for the Univ. of MD) will compete in this year's Senior National Championships in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Look for Jill to swim the 100 & 200 meter breastroke events. Coach Chuck will be in attendance to help coach her. The stakes? If Jill swims well enough she could be eligible for the USA Swimming National Team this year!

SUMMER NEWS!
SUMMER NEWS!

Almost Perfect!
Kelli Freer, Cole Kimble, Caitlin Branaman, and Jackson Webb were nearly perfect on Saturday, June 8th. These swimmers did their best times in all their events. Kelli Freer went six for six best times; including a 12 second drop in the 100 IM. Coach Chuck said, "She simply swam her best. She was on fire." Cole Kimble lit up the pool with 1 first place, 4 seconds, 2 fourths, and a fifth place finish. Jackson Webb finished 6th in the 100 fly and 8th in the 50 free. Caitlin Branaman managed to shave an amazing 8.67 seconds off her 100 free time & 2.43 in her 100 backstroke-over 10 seconds in only 2 events!!! Way to go, gang. Great effort made by all of you!

NBAC Meet Sees Records Fall
CBAC was well represented as we came away with some great swims. Fifteen team records fell at the July meet. The relay team of Lisa Gabrelcik, Davi Clark, Jacqueline Kitner, and Brittany Culpepper broke the 11-12 200 meter freestyle relay. If you see Will Richards, Brittany Culpepper, Eric Skrabacz, Lisa Gabrelcik, Olivia Ray, and Beth Dobson ask them if they need some water because they were all hot, hot, hot! Lisa had a great weekend, breaking four 11-12 records: 50FR, 50BK, 100FR and 50Fly-an event she won. Her second place finish in the 50BK was very close to the first place finisher. Veteran swimmer at 16, Eric Skrabacz broke five records in the 15-16 age group: 100Fly, 400IM, 200IM, 100BK, and 200BK! Olivia Ray probably doesn't know this, but she broke two 8 & under records: 50FR & 100 BK. Way to go, Olivia! Brittany Culpepper broke the 11-12 100 BR record. Will Richards broke the 13-14 100 BR record, while Beth Dobson broke the 17-18 100 FR record. Way cool! Jennifer Ray & Justin Koper placed in the top 10 and collected medals. John Kitner took time off in every event he swam. Jacqueline Kitner looked awesome on Saturday with mega time drops in all her events. Natalie Fugate and Emily Dobson finished 6th & 9th in the 100 Fly. Good job, girls! Remember: moving to the next level is what we strive for!

Message from Coach Chuck

Welcome to our new and returning CBAC swimmers! As summer progresses I've been working hard to secure suitable practice space and times. Bear with us and "stay the course" as we work around the closure of the college pool. Rest assured, the wait will be worth it. A special thank you goes to those families who continue to provide support to the team as a whole.
Over the coming weeks I will be traveling to several meets, the ASCA World Clinic, and the U.S. Aquatic Sports Convention. In my absence all swimmers are expected to attend practices, work hard, and show respect for the coaching staff. I'll return to share my experiences and catch up with all of you.

"Courage is daring to take that first step, or different path. It is the decision to place your dreams above your fears."

What's Happening Next Year?

Coach Chuck will be at the SMSL Invitational Saturday afternoon to answer questions you might have about next year and upcoming changes. He will be coming straight from the Speedo Championships in VA, so be on the lookout for the CBAC table and Coach Chuck.
